Morocco Becomes the Global Gateway for African Coffee: Launch of the First African Coffee Hub at Tanger Med

ree
Tanger Med, Morocco - A major turning point for the African coffee industry.

The first pan-African hub dedicated to coffee, African Coffee Hub, is being established in Tanger Med, positioning Morocco as the new global platform for exporting African coffee to Europe, the United States, and Asia.

Located within the Tanger Med port complex one of the most connected ports in the world and a symbol of the strategic vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, African Coffee Hub marks the end of an old system:

the dependence of African producers on European traders and on long, costly, and opaque export chains.

A Revolutionary Model: From African Producers Directly to the World

Until now, European and American roasters had to go through multiple intermediaries to access African coffee, a heavy, expensive chain that often disadvantaged producers.

With African Coffee Hub, everything changes:

• Direct purchase from African producers

• Consolidation, quality control, and coffee preparation in Morocco

• Fast export to global markets through Tanger Med

• Reduction of costs and increase in value captured by Africa

• Full traceability: from bean to cup

Because without African coffee, there is no espresso: the continent produces some of the world’s best coffees (Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania…).

This hub aims to become the main origin gateway for African coffee to major international markets.

A Project Serving Both Africa and Morocco

African Coffee Hub fully integrates into Morocco’s African strategy and economic leadership:

• A unique logistical platform between Africa and Europe

• A boost to African economic diplomacy

• Job creation and development of local expertise

• Fairer remuneration for African producers

• The structuring of a true pan-African coffee value chain

Ambition : Becoming the World’s Largest Hub for African Coffee

The hub aims to centralize a significant share of African coffee while offering an unprecedented standard of quality and logistics in the region.

Key objectives:

• Consolidate African coffee lots in a single premium hub

• Ensure continuous flows to Europe, the U.S., and Asia

• Support producers in improving quality

• Guarantee a transparent, traceable, and sustainable supply chain

“Our ambition is simple: to allow African coffee to access the world without intermediaries, while ensuring quality, traceability, and economic fairness for producers. Tanger Med is the natural location to lead this revolution,”

declares Sanae Ben Abdelkhalek, CEO of ACH.

Next Steps

In the coming weeks, African Coffee Hub will announce:

• its first agreements with African coffee-producing countries

• its operational calendar

• its first logistical and industrial partnerships

• the official inauguration date of the hub at Tanger Med
